The key to happiness is simplicity i.e. in simple pleasures. Your mental state can be classified as Satvic, Rajasic, and Tamasic. Whatever you do impacts the balance of these three Gunas. It’s the Satvik mind that’s pure, luminous, full of love, patience, intelligence, and creativity. One of the best ways to be happy, content and clear are by cultivating Sattva and calming the Tamasic as well as Rajasic mind. The secret of happiness lies in eliminating the inertia, exhaustion, heaviness, and disturbance.
Ways To Be Happy
1. Be Kind & Warm To Yourself.
Contentment is the center of it all. So, one of the ways you can promote satisfaction is by being a little extra warm and kind towards yourself. Listen to your needs, be forgiving and consequently cultivate the same feelings in others. When you feel approachable and warm is when others too get kind. The act feels a bit challenging so do not rush.
2. Sit Still – Meditate.
Sometimes, the secret of happiness lies in sitting still. For the rajasic mind that’s anxious, turbulent and a little off balance, meditation is helpful. It calms your mood and quiets the raging mind. Moreover, it’s a silent retreat – just 10 minutes every day and you’ll be surprised.
3. Get Moving.
One of the best ways to be happy is by exercising. Walk, run, cycle, dance, garden, perform yoga or tai-chi… These increase sattva to invigorate your mind and body. However, don’t overdo it. Be gentle since you’d want to make it an enjoyable routine.
4. Eat Organic.
Another key to happiness is good food, in fact, the primary one. Not just eat organic but even grow your own food. There’s no greater joy than seeing those seeds grow into delicious fruits and veggies!
5. Spend Time In Nature.
This way, you’re less likely to get anxious or feel depressed – it’s the key to happiness. Spending time outside of enclosed spaces reduces the risk of several body ailments promoting Sattva.
6. Be With Your Loved Ones.
There are no other ways to be happy than to be with your dear ones. The secret of happiness sometimes lies in listening to what others have to say. Have real-time conversations, you’ll get to know them and develop a sense of that lost closeness with your friends and family.
7. Don’t Forget Your Pets.
Pets instill in you the sense of being in the moment. Try fondling a dog or a cat be it your pet or a shelter animal. You’ll understand that one of the best ways to be happy is in those long walks, good feed and loads of cuddling with your four-legged furry buddy.
8. Create Satvik Spaces.
Free up untidy spaces to promote Sattva. Let in warm and positive vibes. Creatively arrange your desk, room or other locations you spend more time at. Also, try aromatherapy to keep your mind calm.
