Lichen planus is a non-contagious skin infection that may appear anywhere on your body. There’s no direct lichen planus treatment, but certain lifestyle tips work well. The condition can definitely be uncomfortable but it isn’t dangerous. A combination of the right diet, as well as home remedies, help clear up the rashes and blisters.
What Is Lichen Planus?
Lichen planus is an autoimmune disorder that leads to the formation of some really painful and scaly rashes that are purple in color. Lichen Planus Treatment
1. Use Tea Tree Oil.
This is a wonderful remedy. Not only is tea tree oil antibacterial in nature, but it’s also antiviral as well as antifungal. So, use it directly on the skin, as a mouthwash or to massage the scalp. It helps relieve the associated inflammation. You can also use coconut or peppermint oil to suck out the toxins.
2. Try Oatmeal Bath.
Oats are a gentle as well as natural skin exfoliator that soothe rashes and painful blisters. Since these are anti-inflammatory in nature, oral lichen planus symptoms can be relieved with an oatmeal bath twice weekly. You can also apply a mix of roughly crushed oats, raw yogurt, and honey for about 10-20 minutes on the affected areas and wash off with warm water.
3. Apply Turmeric Paste.
On the affected areas, apply some raw turmeric paste since it’s anti-inflammatory as well as antibacterial in nature. This will show visible improvement. It also gets rid of the blisters. 5. Eat The Right Diet.
To manage the symptoms, have more folate as well as vitamin A rich foods. Include carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, kale, lentils, avocados, legumes, beets and asparagus in your daily routine. These will increase your immunity to fight off the infection.
6. Things To Keep In Mind
- Cold compress in oral lichen planus provides immediate relief.
- Do not use any chemical products like soap, lotions or ointments.
- Wash the affected area with Triphala water.
- Aloe vera gel is soothing.
- No excess exposure to sunlight.
- Avoid horse gram, sesame and, fermented foods.
- Avoid spicy and acidic foods.
- Maintain oral hygiene.
- Avoid scratching.
