How To Increase Vitality And Vigour
1. Get Rid Of Accumulated Ama
Ama is the Ayurvedic term for toxins. Toxins are the opposite of ojas. They hinder the formation as well as circulation of ojas in the body. So, reduce the toxin levels in your body with periodical fasting, warm lemon water in the morning, hot baths, abhyanga, and regular physical exercise. Switching to a satvik diet also ensures a cleaner body.
2. Follow A Satvik Diet.
Those who eat satvik are much more likely to have sufficient vigour and vitality.
- Eat fresh organic fruits as well as veggies, whole grains, organic cow milk products, nuts and seeds, healthy oils, natural sweeteners like honey, lentils, and digestive spices.
- Limit hard-to-digest foods like garlic, onions, beans, refined foods like white paste, and heavy foods like curry.
- Avoid meat, raw food, alcohol, canned and frozen items, leftovers, and heavily processed food.
3. Get Proper Rest.
How to increase vitality and vigour? Listen to your body. When you feel overwhelmed, tired, stressed or overstimulated, take a step back and give your body time to recuperate. Go to sleep around 10 pm and wake up with the birds – this lets your body’s self-repair processes run smoothly at night. Refrain from ojas-depleting activities like excess social media use and partying late at night.
4. Learn Correct Breathing.
That’s right, most of us don’t breathe properly, meaning we don’t use our lungs to their full capacity. It is when we breathe correctly that our blood circulates properly, our digestion runs optimally, and our cells receive better nutrition. All of these are vital for vitality.
Practise full yogic breathing:
5. Be Physically Active.
Being physically active is very important for vitality. It beats fatigue, ensures proper blood circulation, maintains a strong immune system, and also improves mental health…among many other health benefits that increase vigour. Even 20 minutes of dosha-accurate exercise a day is enough to maintain or increase vitality.
6. Maintain A Strong Agni.
Agni (fire) governs various metabolic functions in the body, including digestion. Since ojas is a product of digestion, a strong agni is crucial sufficient ojas. Without proper digestion, your body cannot produce ojas properly. So eat clean, exercise regularly, and stay hydrated. Use digestive spices such as ginger, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, chili in moderation, turmeric, and asafoetida to maintain a strong agni.
