Leucoderma is a condition where you start losing skin pigment. As a result, white patches develop over time and become quite prominent. It is an otherwise harmless skin condition and you might not have any physical troubles. But, it can be a bother to some. According to Ayurveda, leucoderma results from Pitta aggravation in the body. Home remedies for leucoderma can cure the damaged skin to a great extent.
Leucoderma Causes
- Prolonged gastric issues
- Improper liver functioning
- Wrong food combinations
- Toxin build up
- Burns or skin injuries
- Worms in the stomach
- Genes
Leucoderma Symptoms
- Premature graying of the hair (eyelashes and of the scalp)
- White patches on the skin
- Significant borders around white patches
Ayurvedic Perspective
The condition is non-infectious, but it forms white patches on your skin. Excessively aggravated Pitta accumulates toxins right below the skin, leading to this problem. It causes a discolouration. However, leucoderma Ayurvedic treatments concentrate on pacifying the imbalanced energy.
Home Remedies For Leucoderma
1. Bakuchi Paste
Bakuchi (Psoralea Corylifolia) is an effective herb that’s helpful in curing leucoderma. Take some bakuchi plant seeds and mix them in coconut oil to gain the consistency of a paste. Apply this to the affected areas and you’ll see the difference within weeks.
3. Turmeric Solution
In about 8 litres of water, mix 500 grams of turmeric powder and keep boiling until only 1 liter is left. Filter the solution and then mix it with some mustard oil. Apply this to your skin every day for quick relief.
3. Tamarind Seeds
For around 4 days, soak some tamarind seeds in water and let them dry afterwards. Prepare a paste of this and apply on the skin till those white patches disappear.
4. Detox Is Important
Once you detect the leucoderma symptoms, go for a full body detox; this is very beneficial. Concentrate on eliminating the bodily toxins and avoid harmful over-the-counter medications. It will prevent excessive spotting of the condition.
5. Diet and Lifestyle Changes
Making the necessary lifestyle and dietary changes is among the best home remedies for leucoderma.
- Avoid excessive swimming in artificial pools, as chlorine aggravates white spots.
- Perform at least a 5-minute meditation session to stay calm from within. Yoga will also help deal with signs of depression.
- Cut down your intake of vitamin C content along with fermented food, carbonated drinks, junk food, and meat. These foods develop toxins in the body to disturb the immune system.
- Avoid using chemical based soaps and cosmetics.
- Daily 20-30 minute sunbathing is important.
- Increase the consumption of bitter tasting foods.
- Stay away from sour and salty foods.
- Adequate sleep is important.
- And do not overexpose to hot and cold temperatures.
