Filariasis results from infection by the filarial worm. This transmits into the human body through mosquito bites. These worms quickly multiply to affect your lymphatic system, which in turn leads to a massive swelling in the legs (filariasis symptoms). However, Ayurvedic remedies prove to be a beneficial filariasis treatment during the initial stages.
What Is Filariasis?
Filariasis is known as Shlipada in Ayurveda. Shli means ‘elephant’ and pada means ‘foot’. Filaria is also known as elephantiasis but there’s a slight difference between the two. Elephantiasis is a symptom or a feature of filariasis but it can also occur in other diseases. In Ayurveda, it is believed that filariasis is caused by vitiation of Kapha dosha which leads to the aggravation of other doshas as well.
What Are The Filariasis Causes?
Filaria or wuchereria bancroftiis is a parasite that gets transferred to the human body through a mosquito bite. Eventually, the parasite grows into an adult. It produces thousands of larvae and these keep spreading for the next 6-8 years. So, it is after a long time that you come to know of the condition, which is why looking out for the filariasis symptoms is necessary.
What Are The Filariasis Symptoms?
- Elephantiasis
- Fever and body pain
- Urticaria
- Pneumonia
- Arthritis
- Redness on the skin
- Inflamed lymphatic vessels and nodes
Filariasis Treatment
1. Carom Tea Is A Great Filariasis Treatment.
Prepare a tea by adding one teaspoon of carom seeds, 2-3 basil leaves, pepper and ginger to a glass of water. Boil the water for about 10-15 minutes and drink the tea twice daily to get rid of the filarial worm.
2. Garlic Kills The Filarial Worm.
Consume about 8-10 cloves of fresh garlic on an empty stomach every day. Since garlic contains allicin, an active ingredient, it aids in the removal of parasites as well as the related infections.
3. Agarwood Reduces The Filarial Symptoms.
Grind agarwood and add some water to make a fine paste. Apply this to the swollen areas for about 20 minutes. Repeat the process twice a day and it’ll reduce the swelling.
4. Black Walnut Oil Is Beneficial.
Take one cup of warm water and add three drops of black walnut oil to it. Drink this water twice a day for quick and effective results. Repeat the process for about six weeks as it will definitely be a helpful filariasis treatment.
5. Betel Leaves Are An Effective Filariasis Treatment.
Have some betel leaves powder with lukewarm water every day to reduce the effects of filariasis. Betel leaves have analgesic and healing properties. They can also cure both skin diseases as well as insect bites. The betel leaves also help reduce the swelling.
