What Is Dumping Syndrome?
The syndrome refers to a condition when a person releases or empties his/ her stomach rapidly. There are two major types:
- Early stage – Symptoms that arise after 10-30 minutes of a meal
- Later stage – Symptoms that occur after 2 to 3 hours of meal consumption
What Are Its Causes?
Gastric surgeries are the most common cause. These mess up with the motor functions of your stomach. Eventually, it leads to the transportation of undigested food and liquid into the small intestine giving rise to the dumping syndrome symptoms.

Dumping Syndrome Diet
1. Eat Complex Carbs.
Avoid simple carbohydrates. Rather, add fiber and complex carbohydrates like barley, quinoa, grain bread, etc. These help in breaking down the food and assist in reducing the dumping syndrome symptoms.
2. Include Fruits For Natural Sugar.
Fruits like apples, peaches, mangoes, and berries contain natural sugar. Berries like elderberry and redberries also contain medicinal properties that help with the dumping syndrome treatment. However, you must avoid natural sugars that are present in dairy items.
3. Limit Dairy Consumption.
