Personally, the winter sun is my favourite. This season is in itself a pursuit of happiness. It makes my soul feel fresh and alive. But unfortunately, my skin doesn’t respond the same way. And this is a relatable experience during winters for most of us. The skin tends to become dull and dry. It drops the moisture and lustre. But fortunately, the comprehensive system of Ayurveda has solutions to almost all our dilemmas (winter skin care tips). And just because we are all wrapped under the winter woollies, it doesn’t mean that we have a reason to neglect our skin!
Winter skin care tips
Follow these simple and brilliant winter skin care tips for being body beautiful every time:
- Adapt to the habit of oiling each morning. This keeps your skin plump and glowing.
- Try abhyanga – the ayurvedic self-massage before your bath. It lubricates & protects your skin giving the complexion a luminous sheen along with a younger looking skin. This effectively helps to prevent dry skin in winter.
- Be sure to drink warm or room temperature water each day rather than the cold or refrigerated one that aggravates Vata.
- You can ideally boil the water in morning and store it in a thermos for drinking throughout the day. This helps to soothe your Vata, hydrate your skin, and curb overeating at the same time.
- Exercise outdoors when the weather allows. Do this at least thrice a week and 30-minutes (minimum) each day.
- Try to include ghee in your daily diet.
- Consume nuts like walnuts and blanched almonds.
- Also increase the intake of sunflower, sesame, and pumpkin seeds.
