Quick & Easy DIY Cosmetics
1. Revitailising Peppermint Shampoo
First on our list of handmade cosmetics recipes is this refreshing shampoo made with peppermint essential oil that nourishes the scalp, treats dandruff, fights, bacteria, and refreshes the mind.
Ingredients:
½ cup distilled water
½ cup Castile soap (liquid)
¼ tsp peppermint essential oil
A flip cap bottle
Directions:
Simply mix all ingredients and pour into the flip cap bottle!
2. Moisturising Aloe Hair Conditioner
Next on our list of delightfully easy handmade cosmetics is this hair conditioner containing aloe vera which is popular as a moisturiser and hair-growth-booster. It also makes the hair glossier.
Ingredients:
5 tbsp fresh aloe vera juice
1 tbsp lemon juice
Directions:
Mix the aloe and lemon juice well. Apply it onto the hair after you shampoo. After about ten minutes, wash it off with lukewarm water.
3. Sweet Honey Lip Balm
Chemical-free lip balm is among the must-have homemade cosmetics for everyone, including men! This one is packed with the hydrating power of honey and makes sure that your lips stay soft and supple all year round.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp petroleum jelly
½ tsp honey
Directions:
Heat the petroleum jelly and honey on a low flame. Stir it for around five minutes. Once they form a smooth uniform mixture, pour it out into another container and let it cool down. Done!
4. Cocoa Bronzer For Your Face & Body
Cocoa, cinnamon, and nutmeg combine to make a fantastic bronzer for your skin. Use it to highlight your gorgeous suntanned skin! It not just looks great, but smell delicious too.
Ingredients:
Raw cocoa (powdered)
Cinnamon (powdered)
Nutmeg (powdered)
Dried beetroot (powdered)
Directions:
Combine all the powders. To make your bronzer dark and brown, use more cocoa. To add pinkness, add any amount of beetroot powder you desire. Once done, just add to a container.
5. Fragrant Lavender Face Wash
This easy and fragrant face wash is one of the best handmade cosmetics! It exfoliates, moisturises, and soothes the skin. It gently cleanses away impurities and it leaves you smelling lovely.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp baking soda
2 tbsp oatmeal (coarsely powdered)
¼ tsp lavender essential oil
A bit of honey
Directions:
Mix together the baking soda and oatmeal. Add the honey and lavender essential oil along with some warm water. Mix well to form a paste. Voila!
6. Nourishing Coconut Moisturiser
Last on our list of easy homemade cosmetics is this coconut oil moisturiser. Coconut oil is considered an excellent hydrator for the skin in Ayurveda. It also fights dullness, acne, and inflammation.
Ingredients:
1 cup coconut oil
2 tsp Vitamin E oil
6 drops rose oil
Directions:
Just combine all the ingredients and mix them well!
Just one warning: before using any DIY cosmetics, test it first by applying a small patch on your inner arm. If you notice any irritation, redness or swelling, don’t use it.
