Cat scratch fever is a bacterial infection. It does not bother people with a strong immune system. If you have a weaker immunity, you may observe certain cat scratch fever symptoms. Essentially, the cat scratch disease causes rashes as well as blisters on the skin that appear blood red. The lymph nodes swell and hurt severely. Therefore, cat scratch treatment becomes necessary.
What Causes Cat Scratch Fever?
Cat scratch fever or the cat scratch disease is caused due to direct contact with an affected animal, especially cats. Cats get infected from fleas who are already infected by a bacteria called Bartonella henselae. This bacteria invade the human body through wounds, scratches, or the white portion of your eyes.
What Are Cat Scratch Fever Symptoms?

- Low-grade fever
- Body ache
- Swelling in the lymph nodes
Cat Scratch Disease Treatment
1. Hot Water Compression Reduces Swelling.
Swelling in the lymph nodes can cause uncomfortable irritation. So, heat some water in a pan till it gets bearably warm. Pour it in a bowl and dip a cloth in it. Squeeze out the excess water and apply it on the affected areas for 10 minutes. Repeat twice or thrice.
2. Tea Tree Oil Is Antibacterial.
The cat scratch disease rashes are curable with tea tree essential oil. It is antibacterial, and therefore necessary for the treatment. So, add 4 drops of tea tree and oregano oil in a teaspoon of coconut oil. Apply this soothing mixture onto the rashes 3 to 4 times a day.
3. Raw Garlic For Cat Scratch Fever Is Beneficial.
Cat scratch fever symptoms include fever and loss of appetite. But garlic works in both these areas by fighting bacteria and easing your digestion. So, swallow 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic with water every morning.
4. Manuka Honey Shows Antimicrobial Activity.
In order to treat cat scratch fever, antibacterial as well as antimicrobial foods must be consumed. Manuka honey is one such variety. So, take a teaspoon of manuka honey every night before sleeping to rid the symptoms.
5. Green Tea Develops Immunity.
Cat scratch disease affects only those with a weaker immune system. Studies have shown that a cup of green tea regularly boosts immunity. So, take a cup of hot water and add a teaspoon of green tea leaves. Steep the tea for 8-10 minutes, strain and drink twice every day.
6. Turmeric Heals Wounds Faster.
Turmeric is an antiseptic and an antibacterial spice. Therefore, add a little water to a tablespoon of turmeric powder. Mix well and apply this paste on the affected areas to heal cat scratch fever symptoms.
7. Basil Cures Fevers.
Cat scratch fever is usually not high temperature. But it’s still important to treat. Basil works well since it is antibacterial as well as anti-inflammatory in nature. Boil 4-5 basil leaves in a cup of water. Steep the tea for 5 minutes. Strain and add half a teaspoon of garlic juice along with one teaspoon of honey. Drink twice daily.
