Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disorder caused by the excess production of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). You may find that the graves’ disease symptoms are similar to the symptoms of hyperthyroidism. This is because Graves’ disease is often a cause of hyperthyroidism. In such a case, the graves’ disease treatment is often the same.
What Is Graves’ Disease?
The pituitary gland at the back of the brain produces hormones that control the production of TSH. When the connection between the pituitary and thyroid glands breaks, some antibodies are produced. These act like pituitary hormones – resulting in excess producing of thyroid hormones. Lemon balm, bugleweed, and motherwort are some herbs used in Graves’ disease treatment.

Graves’ Disease Treatment
1. Lemon Balm Regulates Thyroid Function.
Lemon balm is an effective herb to control the thyroid hormone levels. Fill a glass jar with fresh lemon balm leaves and lemon slices. Add fresh cold water and store it in a refrigerator for 7-8 hours. Drink the infused water throughout the day for Graves’ disease treatment.
2. Reduce Eye Irritation With Cold Compression.
Graves’ disease symptoms include eye irritability. To reduce it, apply cold compresses on the eye. Soak a cloth in cold water. Squeeze it properly. Keep it on closed eyelids for about 20 minutes. And, repeat after 2 hours in case of swelling.
3. Bugleweed Cures Graves’ Disease.
You can call bugleweed as an anti-thyroid herb. It halts the production of thyroid hormones. So, add one teaspoon of dry bugleweed leaves in 200 ml or one cup of boiling water. Steep for 10 minutes, strain and drink. Mix in some lemon juice, and some honey for taste.
4. Boost Immunity With Spicy Ginger.
Ginger has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and analgesic properties that strengthen your immune system. So, prepare a soup by putting some vegetable broth in a pan. Add 2 teaspoons ginger paste, one chopped onion, two cloves of roasted garlic, and 2-3 chopped mushrooms. Boil the soup and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat and cover for 5 minutes. Consume throughout the day.
5. Turmeric Is An Effective Treatment.
If you like fancy drinks, try this golden latte. Take one teaspoon of ground turmeric and add water to make a thick paste. Store it in a refrigerator. Boil one glass of milk in a pan. Add one teaspoon of the golden turmeric paste in a glass and add hot milk in it. Mix well and drink before bed.
