Akshi Tarpanam (Netra Vashti) Panchakarma Treatment Procedure
This is a professional treatment where a person is first made to comfortably lie down with their eyes closed. A gentle forehead massage is given, after which a dough frame is set around the eyes. Next, an expert pours some lukewarm ghee into the frame and fills it till the eyebrows. Once the eyes are fully covered, the patient has to slowly keep blinking as it benefits the insides.
After 15-20 minutes, the ghee is drained with the help of a cotton ball, and the expert gently removes the band. Ayurveda specialists recommend at least a 7-day treatment after the sunset.
Preparation and Application Of The Band
Black lentil (urad dal) flour is kneaded with warm water and a band-like dough is prepared. Once firm, it is then placed around the eyes to act as a protective wall and restrict the oil from dripping. To further prevent any spillage, the dough is secured with urad dal paste and two small tank-like shapes are formed.
