Chapped lips, most of the times, are due to a lack of moisture in the body. Dehydration can be because of several critical reasons. But, certain everyday habits too become a significant reason for dry lips. So, how to treat dry lips? Avoid these things that affect the health of your lips, and you’ll be able to prevent further damage.
How To Treat Dry Lips?
1. Cut That Caffeine.
Drinking a lot of coffee and tea can significantly dry your lips. It causes dehydration in the body and the lips start to chap. Instead, switch over to healthy herbal teas!
2. Limit Your Salt Intake.
If you are in a habit of consuming salty eatables like chips or simply too much white salt, then you must compensate that with a lot of fluid intake to stop your lips from parching.
3. Drink Plenty Of Water!
Do you often question, “why are my lips so dry?” Here’s the answer – you probably aren’t drinking enough water! Reconsider your decision or else chapping and dryness wouldn’t ever leave you.
How to treat dry lips? Drink at least 2 litres of water everyday. Always keep your bottle or flask handy and keep sipping. Better yet, drink warm water since Ayurveda recommends it. Internal hydration is really important so the moisture of your lips is retained and they don’t crack.
4. Check Your Lip Gloss.
Some of the lipsticks and lip gloss products aren’t really suitable for your lips. So, make sure to keep a check on your lip products if you suddenly notice parching. Use good good quality products and do not compromise on your lovely lips.
Scented products do appeal us most of the time. But, they also take away the protective layer of your lips. So, stop using these artificially scented products and apply some herbal lip masks to prevent dryness and other inflammation.
5. Stop Licking
This is a hard-to-break habit, but you must know that your saliva literally evaporates moisture from your lips and makes them perennially dry! So, licking along with picking skin flakes must be avoided at all cost.
6. Set A Shield.
One major problem with chapped lips is not taking proper care of them. Protecting your lips from Sun damage, using natural lip balms or scrubs and moisturizing are a few ways of shielding them from any external damage. The best is to pamper and heal your lips with natural unscented products like shea butter, almond oil or petroleum jelly.
In Conclusion …
In the end, always remember that every set of lips is different from the other. So, you might have to pay close attention to what exactly suits you and your lips. Also, don’t forget to visit your dermatologist in case the problem and severity persist.
