7 Easy Ayurvedic Remedies for Acne
1. Neem Paste
First on our list is Neem, which nearly never fails as an acne remedy. Grab 10 Neem leaves, pop them into a pot and boil them. Then, take them out and crush them to form a paste. When the paste is at room temperature, apply it on your skin and rinse it off after it dries up.
2. Triphala Medicine
Triphala is a herbal formula made with three fruits – Amalaki, Bibhitaki and Haritaki – in equal parts. It’s often used as an Ayurvedic medicine for acne that brings about a balance of all the three doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) and flushes toxins out of the body. Various symptoms of the dosha imbalance, including acne, will vanish. You’ll need to consult an Ayurvedic doctor about what dosage is safe for you.
3. Papaya Paste
Great for your skin, easy to use and safe for most, Papaya is certainly a reliable Ayurvedic remedy for acne. Peel off the skin of a Papaya and crush the rest of it to form a paste. Apply it on your skin for around 25 minutes and rinse it off with warm water.
4. Holy Basil Juice
Also known as Tulsi in Ayurveda, Holy Basil has highly purifying effects on the body, which makes it a great Ayurvedic acne treatment. It has been used to treat acne and a host of other health problems for ages. Crush around 5 Tulsi leaves and extract their juice. Then, apply the juice on your skin. Rinse it off after 20 minutes. Simple!
5. Lemon Juice
High in acid and vitamin C, lemon offers many benefits for your skin. And it’s delightfully easy to use. Just squeeze a lemon’s juice into a tiny container and dilute the juice with a few drops of water. Apply it on your skin and wash it off the following morning. But remember to watch out for excess burning – if it’s too irritating, wash it off and go for a milder remedy.
6. Turmeric Paste
Another favourite among Ayurvedic ingredients for health and beauty, turmeric has anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. It’s a wonderful skin cleanser that has been traditionally used for thousands of years. All you have to do is mix turmeric powder with a bit of water to form a thick paste. Remove all lumps. Put it on your skin and rinse it off after it dries up.
7. Potato Slices
Last on our list of Ayurvedic remedies for acne are potatoes. They have pretty strong antibacterial properties. Just slice a potato and massage your skin with the slices. Remember to use a different slice on each part of your skin. Done!
